January — Mystery drones are reported numerous times in Sublette County, Wyoming. County Sheriff K. C. Lehr says the sightings “range from patterns involving two or three devices, to 10–12 in formation.” The size of the drones ranges from large (the size of a Volkswagen) to “smaller drones flying in a grid pattern around that singular drone.” Some of the drones appear above the Mesa Spring area, an oil-and-gas infrastructure. Reports from Sweetwater County include drones seen above the coal-fired Jim Bridger Power Plant in Point of Rocks. The sheriffs of Campbell, Weston, Johnson, Natrona, Washakie, and Niobrara counties all report drone sightings. (“Eight Wyoming Sheriffs Seeing Mystery Drones Still Have No Answers,” Cowboy State Daily (Cheyenne, Wyoming), January 29, 2025)
January–March — The Federal Aviation Administration records 411 reports of illegal drone incursions near airports across the US, a 25.6% increase from the 327 reports in same period in 2024. The most frequent locations are Chicago (29), Houston (19), New York (18), Orlando (18), and San Diego (14). (Tim McMillan, “‘We Are Going to Have a Catastrophic Incident’: Drone Incursions in Restricted Airspace Are Surging in 2025,” The Debrief, May 30, 2025)
January 1 — 8:39 a.m. An improvised explosive device explodes in a Tesla Cybertruck parked outside the main entrance of the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada. The vehicle’s sole occupant, Matthew Alan Livelsberger, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, an active-duty US Army Special Forces soldier since January 2006 who is on approved leave, dies from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head immediately prior to the explosion, and seven bystanders are injured by the blast. Authorities find that the vehicle contains firework mortars and gas canisters, which fuel the explosion and fire. Livelsberger has authored a manifesto sent via email to Samuel Shoemate, a retired Army intelligence officer. The manifesto, which officials believe to be authentic, contains claims of clandestine operations, war crimes, and advanced military technologies. In the manifesto, Livelsberger says that he is under surveillance by intelligence agencies due to his knowledge of war crimes and classified details about an advanced US drone program. The manifesto alleges that “gravitic propulsion systems” are operationally deployed by both the US and China. Livelsberger claims Chinese submarines have launched unmanned aircraft along the Atlantic coast as part of a broader intelligence and surveillance strategy, in reference to the 2024 US drone sightings. He further warns that such technologies, with their stealth and unlimited payload capacity, represent an unparalleled threat to national security, potentially enabling attacks on critical infrastructure like the White House. Livelsberger has confided to his ex-girlfriend that he has suffered a traumatic brain injury during his deployment, leading to memory issues, difficulty concentrating, strained relationships, and guilt over his battlefield actions. January 3–4 — 10:30 p.m. From 4–20 mystery drones are reported above the marina at Køge, Denmark. Danish police verify the initial report, and the last drones are seen disappearing above the Køge Bugt at 1:16 a.m. (“Mystiske dromer: Nu reagerer PET,” Ekstra Bladet (Copenhagen, Denmark), January 4, 2025; “Danish Police Investigate Mystery Drone Sightings,” Deutsche Welle, January 4, 2025)
January 4 — Near Yardley, Pennsylvania, close to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, a pilot sees three unmanned aerial systems (UAS) flying in a “triangle formation” at an altitude of approximately 6,000 feet. (Tim McMillan, “‘We Are Going to Have a Catastrophic Incident’: Drone Incursions in Restricted Airspace Are Surging in 2025,” The Debrief, May 30, 2025)
January 5 — UFO researcher Tristan Routier publishes a report and analysis of 276 UFO cases that occurred on the continent of Africa. He recommends the creation of a pan-African UFO database and notes that the UFO narratives are often interwoven with cultural and spiritual contexts. (Tristan Routier, “Rapport d’analyse sur les observations d’OVNI en Afrique,” UAPAfrique, January 5, 2025)
January 7 — 1:30 a.m. Devid Otto and Diana Lizeth hear a strange sound and see a massive, bus-sized, black object hovering above their vehicles while they are stopped at a red light at the intersection of Ontario Highway 60 and King William Street in Huntsville, Ontario. It has three dim, yellow lights. When the traffic light turns green, Otto moves on and does not see the object again. (“It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s a Drone ‘the Size of a Bus,’” Huntsville (Ont.) Forester, January 11, 2025)
January 7 — Luis Elizondo sends a memo to President-elect Donald Trump that recommends the creation of a White House senior advisor on Emerging All-Domain Technologies (EADT) responsible for addressing both UAP sightings and unidentified drone incursions. The EADT advisor would serve on the National Security Council and coordinate the government’s response, formulate policy, and conduct domestic and international outreach. Elizondo has already indicated that he would be willing to serve as an advisor. (Luis D. Elizondo, memorandum to Donald J. Governors Glenn Youngkin (R-Va.), Jeff Landry (R-La.), and Mark Gordon (R-Wyo.) express frustration over the lack of information from government agencies. (Ashleigh Fields, “Trump: ‘I’m Going to Give You a Report on Drones about One Day into the Administration,” The Hill, January 10, 2025)
January 10 — Two US intelligence agencies issue a summary report on Havana Syndrome, concluding that it’s possible that a small number of cases were caused by a “novel weapon” wielded by a foreign actor. Sometime in the last two years, the US has received new intelligence that indicates a foreign nation’s directed energy research programs had been “making progress.” That leads one unnamed intelligence agency to assess that there was a “roughly even chance” that a foreign country has used some kind of novel weapon against a small group of victims. According to two former intelligence officials, one of those agencies is the National Security Agency. (“New Intelligence Suggests ‘Havana Syndrome’ Possibly Caused by Foreign Weapon,” CNN, January 10, 2025)
January 12 — Up to 10 mystery drones are reported near Ingolstadt Manching Airport, a military air base in Manching, Bavaria, Germany. Bavarian State Police are unable to identify the operators despite “intensive search measures.” Drones have been reported in the area since mid-December, as well as at an armed forces base near Neiberg an der Donau, Bavaria, and at Ramstein Air Base, a US/NATO forces installation in southwestern Germany. Intelligence, defense, and law enforcement officials have identified Russia as the most probable culprit. January 14 — Afternoon. A mystery drone is reported by a private pilot to the tower at Fresno (Calif.) Yosemite International Airport. Shortly afterward, a Fresno police helicopter investigates a mystery drone flying at 3,000 feet above the Yosemite Freeway and Herndon Avenue. A second pilot reports an object following him at 3,500 feet, and the first pilot calls in again to report a white object flying at 3,500 feet over the city. (“UFO Sightings Spark Intrigue over Fresno Skies,” KMPH-TV, Fresno, California, January 15, 2025)
January 15 — The Office of the Chief Science Advisor of Canada releases its first preliminary report on the Management of Public Reporting of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena in Canada: A Preview of the Upcoming Sky Canada Report. It contains a Message from the chief science advisor, Mona Nemer, and an executive summary. These are followed by two appendices, the first a list of contributors and experts consulted and the second the results of a survey of Canadians by an outside agency regarding opinions on UAP. It recommends that a federal agency such as the Canadian Space Agency be designated to handle UAP reports, and that Transport Canada should actively encourage pilots to report UAP. A full report will be released later in the year. January 21 — 12:22 a.m. A camera trap run by the University of Magallanes that is used to monitor wildlife for a project in Chile’s Patagonia region captures, in 2 seconds, three photographs showing intense lights moving downward. The camera is located at the edge of a meadow far from any public road and focused on a flat horizon. The lights apparently approach and remain in front of the camera, dazzling it. Potential explanations range from an arachnid coming very close to the camera lens to that of a plasmoid, a short-lived form of plasma rarely observed in nature that may be behind phenomena such as ball lightning. The camera traps operate under rigorous protocols and are equipped with an infrared system, motion sensor, and other features that preclude people tampering with them. (María de los Ángeles Orfila, “Camera Trap in Chile Detects Strange Lights Blazing through the Wilderness,” Live Science, September 12, 2025)
January 21 — 12:27 a.m. An unidentified object is tracked on radar in Kastamonu province, Turkey. It disappears from screens in a forested area around Kırışoğlu. The incident prompts an extensive response by the Turkish Air Force and provincial police and disaster teams, which are employing thermal drones and ground troops in the vicinity. Searches also extend to the Ilgaz Mountain region. (“Investigation Underway after UFO Vanishes from Radar in Kastamonu, Türkiye,” Türkiye Today, January 21, 2025)
January 21 — 5:00 a.m. A witness near Hopwood, Pennsylvania, notices a light outside his window that is coming from three spherical objects, each the size of a basketball, sitting in his yard. They immediately come together to form a single white light that is much brighter and shoots up into the sky after a few seconds. (Stan Gordon, “Three Glowing Orbs on the Ground Rise Straight Up into the Sky in Pennsylvania,” Stan Gordon’s UFO Anomalies Zone, February 1, 2025)

February — Morning. Near Long Beach (Calif.) Airport, the pilot of a small single-engine aircraft has a near-miss with a “bright red, multi-rotor drone” that flashes past the plane at an altitude of 3,500 feet. “Had the drone intersected my flight path, it could have caused a catastrophic midair collision, with probable impact to control surfaces, propeller, engine, fuel tank, or canopy,” the pilot reports in the Aviation Safety Reporting System report. “Had it impacted the canopy head-on, I would have been killed instantly.” (Tim McMillan, “‘We Are Going to Have a Catastrophic Incident’: Drone Incursions in Restricted Airspace Are Surging in 2025,” The Debrief, May 30, 2025)
February — Morning. Roughly 15 miles from Fort Worth, Texas, the pilot of a cargo aircraft encounters a white, elongated drone that passes approximately 100 feet above the cockpit while the plane is flying at 15,500 feet. “It appeared to be not a small hobby drone, and it looked maybe 3 to 4 feet long,” the pilot wrote in an Aviation Safety Reporting System report. (Tim McMillan, “‘We Are Going to Have a Catastrophic Incident’: Drone Incursions in Restricted Airspace Are Surging in 2025,” The Debrief, May 30, 2025)

(“Durham Declaration on SETI and UAP Research,” Durham University, April 24, 2025)
April 24 — 9:00 p.m. Two witnesses observe a dark metallic, octahedron-shaped object near Granite High School in Porterville, California. The object, estimated to be 600–800 feet away and about the size of a UPS truck, flies silently and without lights, matching the vehicle’s speed (30–35 mph) while traveling parallel to it. When one of the witnesses points it out, the object instantly makes a sharp 90° turn and flies toward the city, disappearing after 10–15 seconds. The witness describes the craft as having markings or engravings—possibly resembling ancient hieroglyphics—visible due to moonlight. There are no windows, cockpit, or sound. (National UFO Reporting Center, “NUFORC UFO Sighting 188813,” April 10, 2025)
April 29 — Journalists Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp release an interview with Matthew Brown, the Department of Defense whistleblower who released information in October 2024 about the secret Immaculate Constellation program to recover and reengineer alien technology. Brown tells Corbell and Knapp that before discovering documents confirming the existence of Immaculate Constellation, he had seen videos of UAP—captured by US platforms—on the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (a secure, secret network used by the US intelligence community to share sensitive information). He claims that the report detailing Immaculate Constellation was contained in a 2018 file on war plan briefings at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado, identifying it as an unacknowledged Special Access Program established by Luis Elizondo in late 2017. The following page of the report, according to Brown, describes a “Pacific Ocean reconnaissance incident” at night off the coast of Kamchatka involving “several Russian naval reconnaissance vessels.” One slide contains a color photograph that shows “a large black triangle floating in the air” that appeared above the Russian ships Brown says the image appears to have been taken “close to the water’s surface,” suggesting it may have been taken by a secret US underwater device. Subcommittee ranking member Suhas Subramanyam (D-Va.) says in an opening statement that “nearly a year and a half later, we still know very little about who was flying these drones over Langley, or what they were doing.” Vice Director for Operations on the Joint Staff Rear Adm. Paul Spedero Jr. tells lawmakers that a new operating procedure was sent by US Northern Command to military bases “within the last month,” and base officials are expected to follow it next time a drone appears. The procedure remains classified. Spedero appears to agree at least in part with a conclusion proposed by committee chairman Rep. William Timmons (R-S.C.) that the incursions are evidence of a “coordinated effort by our adversaries to collect valuable intelligence and surveillance of some of our most sensitive military equipment.” (“Securing the Skies: Addressing Unauthorized Drone Activity over U.S. Military Installations,” GOP Oversight YouTube channel, April 30, 2025; Matthew Cox, “Many US Bases Still Lack Sufficient Tech to Track Drone Incursions: DOD Officials,” Air and Space Forces, April 29, 2025; “Hearing Wrap Up: Swift Action Needed to Address Unauthorized Drone Activity over U.S. Military Installations,” House Committee on Oversight, April 30; Michael Marrow, “After Mysterious Incursions, NORTHCOM Updates Counter-drone Procedures,” Breaking Defense, April 30, 2025; Audrey Decker, “Pentagon Warns It’s Not Prepared for Homeland Drone Attack,” Defense One, April 30, 2025; Tim McMillan, “‘We Are Going to Have a Catastrophic Incident’: Drone Incursions in Restricted Airspace Are Surging in 2025,” The Debrief, May 30, 2025)

May 1 — 11:30 a.m. The UAP Disclosure Fund briefs members of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability in the Rayburn House Office Building. Moderated by Luis Elizondo, the panelists include Avi Loeb, Eric Davis, Timothy Gallaudet, Christopher Mellon, and Mike Gold. Elizondo presents to the lawmakers a photo he says was taken by a pilot that seemingly shows a huge disk-shaped UFO flying close to the ground and casting a large shadow in the Four Corners area; however, internet users quickly find out that the photo actually shows two irrigation circles. May 13 — In the conclusion of an interview on the Weaponized podcast released today, former Department of Defense official Matthew Brown alleges to journalists Jeremy Corbell and George Knapp that unelected government bureaucrats probably connected to the CIA interfered with the Congressional hearing on UAP held on November 13, 2024, causing an introductory page, authored by Corbell, to Brown’s report to be stricken from the record and replaced with a blank page. The Hearing centered around a summary report authored by Brown, detailing the alleged Immaculate Constellation Unacknowledged Special Access Program (USAP) tasked with tracking advanced craft of both human and non-human origin. Brown states that UAP secrecy currently resides in “an illegal internationalist regime; some sort of international cabal of sorts, [a] mix of corporate, military, political, intelligence, and criminal interests that have come together.” (“Immaculate Constellation: A Whistleblower Honors His Oath: Weaponized: Episode #76: Part 3,” Jeremy Corbell YouTube channel, May 13, 2025; Christopher Sharp, “Unelected Officials Accused of Interfering with 2024 UFO Transparency Hearing,” Liberation Times, May 13, 2025)
May 16 — Members of the Japanese “Parliamentary League for UAP Clarification from a Security Perspective” deliver a formal proposal to Defense Minister Gen Nakatani, urging the government to strengthen surveillance and data collection in response to recent incursions by drones and surveillance balloons, particularly those believed to originate from China. The proposal calls for the ministry to form a specialized division focused on three key tasks: collecting and analyzing UAP-related data, disclosing relevant findings to the public, and reporting investigation results regularly to the National Diet. ([The Bipartisan UAP Diet Members’ League], Fuji News Network, May 16, 2025)
May 19 — 6:09 p.m. The captain and first officer of an Airbus A320 airliner are flying at 9,000 feet over central London, England, when they see a bright white, triangular object pass overhead from the opposite direction. They estimate it is at least 9 feet long and “filled a good proportion of the windshield.” (Baptiste Friscourt, “Near Collision between an A320 and an Unidentified Triangular Craft above London,” Sentinel News, August 27, 2025)
May 25 — A new pattern-analysis study by the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies indicates that UFO sightings between 1945 and 1975 show a clear shift toward nighttime activities, a focus on nuclear weapons sites, and displays that could be interpreted as a study of human behavior. (“Groundbreaking SCU Study Identifies the Evolving Patterns of Activity by Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP),” Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies, May 25, 2025)
June 6 — Wall Street Journal reporters Joel Schectman and Aruna Viswanatha publish a report claiming that military UAP whistleblowers have been influenced by deliberate disinformation planted by the Pentagon to deflect attention from its classified weapons projects. The false stories include the To the Stars Academy’s metallic alloy, an alleged hazing ritual that involves showing newly appointed USAF commanders a supposedly real photo of a reengineered UFO as part of a mythical project called “Yankee Blue,” and a UFO photo displayed at a bar near Area 51 since the 1980s. (In September, the Office of the Secretary of Defense denies that it issued a directive to halt the Yankee Blue project in 2023, but agrees to another search for “responsive records” in December.) The information probably comes from Part 2 of the AARO historical report, much of it authored by its former director Sean Kirkpatrick, and rumored to be nearly ready for release. Part 1 was released in March 2024. (Joel Schectman and Aruna Viswanatha, “The Pentagon Disinformation That Fueled America’s UFO Mythology,” Wall Street Journal, June 6, 2025; Robert L. June 6 — The Trump administration issues three executive orders that encourage the Federal Aviation Administration to expedite rules to allow companies to use drones beyond their operators’ line of sight, while also imposing restrictions meant to help protect against terrorism, espionage, and public safety threats. One order will allow state and local authorities to be trained to respond to unauthorized drones and expand the government’s ability to counter them. (“Trump’s New Drone Orders Aim to Counter Threats While Encouraging Flying Cars and Supersonic Flights,” The Hill, June 6, 2025)
June 12 — Former AARO Deputy Director Timothy Phillips states in an interview with the New York Post that the agency is puzzled by fiery orbs and black, triangular-shaped UFOs. July 1 — The Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) station at Río Hurtado, Chile, discovers an interstellar comet, dubbed 3I/ATLAS, moving toward the Sun at a distance of 4.5 AU. Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb and colleagues find nine points of evidence consistent with the hypothesis that the object is a “technological artifact,” rather than a comet. Although they consider this “unlikely,” the group suggests that astronomers closely follow its orbital path and accelerations to further assess its identity. July 2 — Evening. Ed and Melinda Pardy capture a 23-second video of ball lightning moving slowly about one kilometer away from their home in Rich Valley, Alberta, during a thunderstorm. The orb is visible for about one minute before it disintegrates with a “pop.” The couple estimate the ball is about 3 feet across and about 20 feet above the ground. Some speculate that the light is from a burst transformer, although the Pardys say there are no power lines close by. July 14 — The Interdisciplinary Research Center for Extraterrestrial Studies (IFEX) at the University of Würzburg and the German Federal Aviation Office (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt) announce that they are now cooperating in UAP investigations. Pilots will be able to report such sightings directly to IFEX via a new online reporting system. (Andreas Müller, “University of Wuerzburg and German Aviation Office Cooperate on UAP-Reporting Center for Pilots,” GrenzWissenschaft-aktuell.de, July 14, 2025)
July 14 — Mona Nemer, Canada’s Chief Science Advisor, releases the final report of the Sky Canada Project, recommending the creation of a new federal body to standardize, collect, and investigate UFO sightings. The report specifically points to the Canadian Space Agency as a “trusted” scientific organization that could lead this new effort in collaboration with government and academic partners. It also recommends that Canadian aviation officials should do more when flight crews file UAP reports. Other recommendations include combatting disinformation, making UAP records available to the public, and creating tools for data collection. The report flags several government departments and agencies that routinely receive UAP reports, including Transport Canada, the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Space Agency, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. July 25 — In a new pre-print paper using data from the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey, Stephen Bruehl and Beatriz Villarroel find thousands of unknown transients that can be correlated to nuclear tests between 1949 and 1956. The authors point out that simple explanations such as technical artifacts in the photographs or local interference at the observatory cannot plausibly explain the observed correlations. (Stephen Bruehl and Beatriz Villarroel, “Some Transients in the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS-I) May Be Associated with Above-Ground Nuclear Testing and Reports of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena,” Research Square, July 25, 2025; Baptiste Friscourt, “New Study Has Found a Possible Link between UAP and Nuclear Tests,” Sentinel News, July 25, 2025; Stephen Bruehl and Beatriz Villarroel, “Transients in the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS-I) May Be Associated with Nuclear Testing and Reports of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena,” Scientific Reports 15, October 20, 2025); Jonathan O’Callaghan, “UFOs Are Just One Explanation for Mysterious Patterns in Old Telescope Data,” Scientific American, October 28, 2025; Brooks Mendenhall, “Did Aliens Watch 1950s Nuclear Tests? ‘Maybe,’ Studies Say,” Astronomy, October 31, 2025)
July 27 — In another pre-print paper from Beatriz Villarroel, the Palomar Sky Survey also reveals multiple moving transients that are aligned along a narrow band. The authors conclude: “One plausible explanation is that they are caused by brief light emissions from artificial objects in orbit or by objects with anomalous movements in Earth’s atmosphere—emissions so brief that they appear as point sources rather than streaks, despite the telescope tracking the stars. Alternatively, they could arise from solar reflections of flat, highly reflective surfaces at geosynchronous altitudes.” The authors also find temporal correlations with the UFO wave above Washington, D.C., in July 1952 and the European UFO wave of 1954. Officials from the Nuclear Regulation Authority, the Defense Ministry, and the Land Ministry provide testimony. (“Defense Experts, Lawmakers call for More Serious UFO Research,” Asahi Shimbun (Tokyo), September 4, 2025)
August 14 — 10:00 p.m. Ranchers report a white light with violet flashes hovering several feet above a field north of Gobernador Candioti, Santa Fe, Argentina. They notify their neighbor, town mayor Sergio Oreggioni, who calls the local police. When a deputy inspector arrives to investigate, a livestock ranch hand tells him his animals are agitated. Cows are circling the light, as if hypnotized, and the horses are running wild, whinnying and crashing into fences. The light soon blinks out and the animals immediately calm down and return to the stable. No damage or fire is noted. When Andrea Pérez Simondini of the Comision de Estudio del Fenomeno OVNI Republica Argentina (CEFORA) requests a copy of the official report from the provincial government, she is denied access in a notification issued on October 14 on the grounds that it falls within national security. Similar events involving UFOs and animal behavior are reported in Laguna Paiva, Nelson, and Recreo in north-central Santa Fe in recent months. (Andrea Simondini, “Extraño fenómeno lumenico en Candioti, Santa Fe,” Visión OVNI, August 18, 2025; “Misterio en un pueblo de Santa Fe,” La Capital (Rosario, Argentina), October 16, 2025)
August 25 — Jacques Vallée has written the foreword to a report released today by the Unhidden Foundation on The Potential Health Effects Associated with Exposure to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP): A Literature Review. Some of the cases it focuses on are Valensole (1965), Falcon Lake (1967), Colares (1977), Cash-Landrum (1980), and Rendlesham (1980). It explores possible mechanisms that would explain the physiological symptoms reported by UAP witnesses. The Unhidden Foundation is a medically oriented, nonprofit foundation established in the UK in late 2024, focused on supporting the health, mental health, and well-being of people in relation to UAPs and the possibility of non-human intelligence. It calls for independent medical research on the effects of UAP experiences on human health. August 28 — US President Donald Trump issues Executive Order 14343, which reclassifies NASA; the US Weather Bureau; the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service; the Patent and Trademark Office; and the US Agency for Global Media as agencies with national security as a primary function and thus part of the Intelligence Community. (US White House, “Further Exclusions from the Federal Labor-Management Relations Program,” Executive Order 14343, August 28, 2025)
August 29 — US Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) introduces the UAP Whistleblower Protection Act, which would provide whistleblower protections to federal personnel for disclosing the use of public funds for the evaluation of or research into UAP. (H.R. 10111, UAP Whistleblower Protection Act, Congress.gov)
September 9 — The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s Task Force on Declassification of Federal Secrets holds a hearing, led by Task Force Chair Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), in which first-hand military witnesses to UAP events discuss their experiences. Five primary witnesses participate in the hearing: Jeffrey Nuccetelli, US Air Force veteran; Alexandro Wiggins, US Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer; George Knapp, journalist; Dylan Borland, former US Air Force geospatial intelligence specialist; and Joe Spielberger, senior policy counsel at the Project On Government Oversight (POGO). Nuccetelli reports several encounters with UAPs at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California between 2003 and 2005. He describes incidents involving large, bright objects over critical defense areas, such as the glowing red square that hovered above the base on October 14, 2003, as well as appearances of triangular objects and light orbs that move in an unusual fashion and appear solid. Nuccetelli also shares a personal experience in his backyard, when a large blue-white orb rapidly changed position in the sky. He calls on Congress to fund independent research and treat the study of UAPs with scientific seriousness; end excessive secrecy and classification of information, ensuring transparency; and protect witnesses, encouraging more people to share their experiences without fear of retaliation. Wiggins reports on an incident he witnessed on February 15, 2023, in the W-291 Warning Area off the Southern California coast, while serving aboard the USS Jackson, when a self-luminous Tic-Tac–shaped object emerged from the ocean and linked up with three other similar objects. All four objects departed simultaneously in a highly synchronized and nearly instantaneous movement. Wiggins concludes that the Southern California coast warrants systematic observation and unbiased reporting, and he emphasizes the importance of improving safety, reporting fidelity, and rigorous analysis of UAP events in US operating areas. George Knapp discusses Soviet programs studying UFOs, showing that the USSR had conducted systematic investigations, including analysis of high-speed evasive objects and incidents involving nuclear missiles that could not be deactivated due to UFO interference. Dylan Borland recounts a 2012 incident at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, where he observed a roughly 100-foot-long equilateral triangular craft hovering near him. The object emitted no sound, caused no kinetic disturbances, and appeared to be made of a fluid-like material. It then ascended rapidly to commercial jet altitude within seconds, again without any conventional flight signatures. Later in his career, Borland was exposed to classified information through a Special Access Program connected to UAP legacy crash retrieval efforts, during which he witnessed widespread misconduct and retaliation against personnel involved in these programs. POGO’s Joe Spielberger emphasizes the importance of strengthening whistleblower protections, especially in the context of national security. A striking and impressive video is also shown during the hearing by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.). The previously unreleased video shows an MQ-9 Reaper drone firing an AGM-114 Hellfire missile at an unidentified object off the coast of Yemen on October 30, 2024. The Hellfire hits the object, which then continues traveling. The incident indicates that the US military has apparently authorized a deliberate action to bring down a UAP. September 9 — 11:30 p.m. From 19 to 23 drones enter Poland’s airspace from Belarus after allegedly being launched from Russia. The incursion triggers a Quick Reaction Alert; the Polish Air Force and other NATO militaries scramble aircraft. Up to four drones are confirmed to have been shot down, most by the Dutch Air Force. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk says that the drones pose a direct threat. The airspace over Warsaw International Airport, Warsaw Modlin Airport, Rzeszów–Jasionka Airport, and Lublin Airport is closed while the Russian drone fleet is in Polish airspace. Locations of drones and debris include several sites near the Polish eastern border, several in southeastern Poland, as well as a field near Mniszków and the town of Nowe Miasto nad Pilicą in central Poland, and Oleśno in northern Poland. At least some of the drones used in the incursion are of the Gerbera type. Others are made of polystyrene rather than plywood. The Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin says that the recovered drones are not armed and do not contain explosive materials; it describes them as “decoy drones.” By September 12, the wrecks of 17 drones are identified. September 20 or 21 — A civilian spots an unidentified drone above the Valajaskoski hydropower plant near Rovaniemi, Finland, and contacts the police. The company operating the facility, Kemijoki Oy, says its surveillance systems did not capture the drone’s operator. Since August 2025, all power plants in Finland have been designated as no-fly zones for drones due to the risk they pose to energy infrastructure. (“Над гидроэлектростанцией в Рованиеми заметили подозрительный дрон,” Yle News Service (Finland), September 26, 2025)
September 22 — Night. Large, unidentified drones appear above the Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the municipal airport in Oslo, Norway. Operations at Kastrup are suspended at 8:26 p.m, leaving thousands of passengers stranded and leading to 50 flights being diverted, delayed, or canceled; it reopens by 1:32 a.m. Oslo Airport closes around 12:00 midnight after a drone sighting forces flights to divert, and it reopens by 3:22 a.m. According to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, at least “three big drones” are involved in the Copenhagen incident, while local police put the number at two or three. Reportedly, the drones in Denmark come from multiple directions, turning their lights on and off for several hours before disappearing. Videos posted to social media platforms show supposed drones in Copenhagen, but only official statements confirm a drone sighting near Oslo Airport. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen tells the country’s broadcaster TV2 that the disruption at Copenhagen Airport is “the most serious attack on Danish critical infrastructure to date.” She does not rule out Russian involvement. Other Danish authorities are also speaking openly about the incident as an attack, a description also used by Anne Tønnes, director at Copenhagen Police. Danish Armed Forces are involved in the investigation into the Copenhagen drones. Danish police chief superintendent Jens Jespersen tells reporters that whoever was responsible is “what we would call a capable operator…. It’s an actor who has the capabilities, the will, and the tools to show off in this way.” European Union foreign policy spokesperson Anitta Hipper agrees with the assessment that the Nordic drone incursions conform with a pattern of nefarious Russian activity. Russia has denied involvement, but a 140-meter-long Russian cargo ship nicknamed Astrol-1 had glided through the Øresund en route to St. Petersburg, Russia, immediately prior to the drone sightings. Some suspect that the objects are Gerbera drones similar to those involved in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, incidents in Lithuania in July 2025, and a September 9 incursion into Poland; these systems are low-cost, multipurpose unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) developed and produced by Russia. The Gerbera is constructed from inexpensive materials like plywood and foam, making it lightweight, expendable, and suitable for mass production. Recent reports suggest that Russia has begun equipping their Gerbera drones with modifications, such as rear-facing cameras or optical sensors to detect approaching interceptors and perform evasive maneuvers, enhancing their survivability in contested airspace. September 22 — Night. Unidentified drones fly over a military base at Mourmelon-le-Grand, Marne, France, triggering increased security measures at the facility that houses the 501st tank regiment. The base has hosted Ukrainian soldiers undergoing training as part of the Champagne task force throughout 2024. (“Unidentified Drones Spark Security Alert at French Military Base,” Euronews, September 26, 2025)
September 23 — Early morning. A non-fatal crash involving an aircraft is reported near the Area 51 facility northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration to issue a temporary flight restriction (TFR) covering a five-nautical-mile area east of the base. The TFR advises that the restriction is in place for reasons involving national security, and the site of the crash is subsequently cleared by US Air Force officials. The 432d Air Expeditionary Wing Public Affairs office states on September 30 that “There were no fatalities, injuries or property damage.” The aircraft is not specifically identified, but the Air Force attributes it to an unmanned aerial vehicle from Creech Air Force Base northwest of Las Vegas. The flying squadrons assigned to the 432nd are primarily equipped with MQ-9 Reaper drones, but this is not the only type of aircraft the wing operates. However, during a follow-up site survey on October 3, investigators discover signs of tampering at the mishap location, “including the presence of an inert training bomb body and an aircraft panel of unknown origin that were placed on the site post-incident.” It remains under investigation by the USAF Office of Special Investigations and the FBI. Dreamland Resort website founder Joerg Arnu claims that security radio communications overheard shortly after the incident potentially link it to a hangar at Area 51. He thinks the incident is likely related to a large nighttime military operation. September 24 — 9:45 p.m. More than one drone is observed flying near Aalborg Airport, Denmark, and remain in the vicinity until just before 1:00 a.m. Drones are also reported at commercial and military airports in Billund, Esbjerg, Skrydstrup, Holstebro, and Sønderborg, as well as at the port of Korsør and military barracks at Oksbøl. Danish national police say the drones follow a similar pattern to the ones that had halted flights at Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen on September 22. Several ships from the Danish shipping company Esvagt report radar and visual sightings of apparent drones over oil fields in the North Sea. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen says that the incidents represent a “hybrid attack using different types of drones” and are the work of a “professional actor.” A helicopter spots a Russian vessel, identified as the landing vessel Aleksandr Shabalin, off the coast of Langeland, Denmark, with its tracking system turned off. Late September — The Galileo Project launches a Galileo Observatory installed on the top of the Sphere entertainment arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Built to detect and track anomalous aerial phenomena, the observatory uses ultra-high-resolution optical and infrared cameras to identify candidate objects, then triangulates data with two other Galileo units in the area to determine velocity, acceleration, and distance from Earth. Speaking about the project, Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb remarks: “Here’s hoping that the Galileo Project Observatory on Sphere will spot an extraterrestrial guest of higher intelligence than displayed in terrestrial academia.” (Avi Loeb, “A New Galileo Project Observatory Is Celebrated on the Joe Rogan Experience and NASCAR,” Medium: Avi Loeb, October 25, 2025)
September 26 — Reps. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) and James Comer (R-Ky.) introduce a bill to expand protections for federal contractors and grantees who refuse to obey orders that would violate law, or who engage in whistleblowing regarding violations of law, gross mismanagement, or abuse of authority, or regarding “a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety.” ([Text of bill], August 29, 2025; US House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, “Ranking Member Robert Garcia and Chairman James Comer Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Strengthen Whistleblower Protections for Federal Contractors,” September 26, 2025)
September 26 — 7:15 p.m. Unidentified drones are spotted at several Danish military sites, including Air Base Karup in central Jutland. The base shares its runways with the Midtjylland civilian airport, which is briefly closed though no flights are affected. Unidentified drones with flashing red and green lights are also observed over Sweden’s Karlskrona archipelago near Sweden’s principal naval installation. Norwegian police are investigating possible drone sightings near the Ørland Main Air Station in Trøndelag County, Norway, the main base for Norway’s F-35s jet fighters. Military assets from Sweden, Germany, and France are sent to Copenhagen for security purposes, and Denmark bans all use of civilian drones through October 3. September 27 — The French navy intercepts the Russian oil tanker Boracay off the coast of the island of Ushant, Brittany, France, and detains two Chinese crew members (who identify themselves as the ship’s captain and first mate). The Boracay is a vessel long suspected of being part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” and under fresh scrutiny for possible links to the recent wave of mystery drone incursions, possibly involving fixed-wing Orlan-10 UAVs, into NATO airspace. Shipping records indicate that the Boracay departed from Primorsk, Russia, on September 20, officially bound for India. Its route takes it through the North Sea and past Danish and German waters, as the mystery drone incursions are first being reported, from September 22 to 25. During that same period, maritime trackers also log two other Russian commercial vessels—the Oslo Carrier 3 and Astrol-1—alongside the Russian Ropucha-class landing ship Aleksandr Shabalin operating in waters off Denmark. (“France Boards Shadow Fleet Tanker and Detains Captain and First Officer,” The Maritime Executive, October 1, 2025; Tim McMillan, “French Navy Seizes Russian ‘Shadow-Fleet’ Vessel Suspected of Launching Mystery Drones into NATO Airspace,” The War Zone, October 2, 2025)
September 28 — 11:00 p.m. After a mystery drone is reported within the restricted area of Bardufoss Airport, Troms County, Norway, the pilot of an airliner arriving from Oslo is redirected to return to Gardermoen Airport. Earlier in the evening, a Widerøe airliner chooses not to land at Brønnøysund Airport after the tower informs the pilot of local drone activity. Fuerteventura Airport in the Canary Islands suspends operations temporarily after a drone is spotted flying close to the runway; flights are diverted to airports on the other islands. September 29 — Jim Shell, a former chief scientist at the Space Training and Readiness Command, alleges that a secret security control system is interfering with the authority of the US Space Force and US Space Command to effectively operate the Space Domain Awareness mission—a global effort to detect, track, and characterize satellites, debris, and other orbital objects. The effect is to suppress intelligence about Russian and Chinese orbital activities and interfere with the US Northern Command’s ability to protect the homeland. He suspects that the process may remove detections of anomalous objects (UAP) from the tracking catalogue before they reach operational commanders. (Jim Shell, “Time to Speak Up: Postured for Operational Surprise,” September 29, 2025; Christopher Sharp, “Veteran Space Operator Alleges Secret Control System Undermines Space Command and Is Possibly Connected to UAP,” Liberation Times, October 2, 2025)
September 29 — Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) says on the Senate floor that the Senate Democratic leadership has not yet responded to “a second managers’ package” that all Republican senators have approved for the Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA, S. 2296). “Second managers’ package” refers to a proposed list of amendments that, with agreement from both parties, would be added to the NDAA without separate floor votes. The Schumer-Rounds UAP Disclosure Act (Senate Amendment 3111) is not included in this proposed package. Thus, it appears that the UAPDA did not achieve consensus support or acquiescence on the Republican side. (D. Dean Johnson, “Congressional UAP Update: UAP Disclosure Act Again Falls by the Wayside,” X post, October 1, 2025)
September 28 — 9:00 p.m. A retired couple living in a remote area near Elmira, Michigan, watch a complex display of lights of varying shapes and colors that appear and disappear at eye level near the front of their house. The man briefly expresses concern when he sees a dark circular form with three central lights arranged in a “V” that rapidly separates in three directions. After the initial surprise, both witnesses focus on documenting the event, capturing numerous videos. A localized portion of the yard becomes softly illuminated during the event. The woman had seen another mysterious light with three distinct moving sections on September 1 at 11:38 p.m. On October 2 at 12:32 a.m., the woman again sees a bright white light hovering about 10 feet above the ground near their stable. She takes a video of it for 35 minutes. The object does not react to a strong flashlight beam. (National UFO Reporting Center, “NUFORC UFO Sighting 193270,” October 18, 2025)
October 2 — The public prosecutor in Brest, France, announces that the detention of the Russian tanker Boracay’s crew has been extended, but declines to comment on suspicions that the vessel served as a launch platform for drone incursions into NATO airspace. The captain will be prosecuted for failure to comply with the orders of a commanding officer during a ship inspection at sea, with a hearing scheduled for February 23; the first officer is released. October 2–3 — Flights are grounded at Munich Airport in Germany twice due to multiple unidentified drone sightings in nearby airspace, beginning at 8:30 p.m. on October 2 in nearby Freising and Erding and at the airport itself at 9:05 p.m.; both runways are closed until around midnight. A second incursion takes place on October 3, leading to another closure at 9:30 p.m. Police confirm two simultaneous drone sightings by patrols just before 11:00 p.m. around the north and south runways. The airport reopens around 7:00 a.m. on October 4. Authorities investigate sightings of 15 drones above Eisenborn-Butgenbach Air Base in eastern Belgium. October 3 — Interstellar object 3I/ATLAS passes within its closest distance of 18 million miles of the planet Mars. The object is puzzling for several reasons: its mass (at least 33 billion tons); its forward jet of scattered sunlight 10 times longer than it is wide; its plume of gas with more nickel than iron, mostly CO2 and not water; its light showing extreme negative polarization; its trajectory aligned with the ecliptic plane of planets around the Sun to within 5°; its arrival time optimized to pass near Mars, Venus, and Jupiter; and its arrival direction aligned to within 9° with the Wow! signal of August 15, 1977. Another anomalous characteristic is discovered by physicists at Auburn University, who find that the object is releasing water at a rate of roughly 88 pounds per second, comparable to a fire hose running at full blast, while positioned nearly three times farther from the Sun than Earth. Cameras aboard the Mars Perseverance rover and ESA’s ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter capture images of the object as it passes nearby. October 5 — The airport in Vilnius, Lithuania, closes for hours when 25 meteorological balloons carrying thousands of contraband packs of cigarettes from Belarus float into the country’s airspace, two of them directly over the airport. At least 11 balloons carrying 18,000 packs of black-market cigarettes are recovered. A similar incident closes the Vilnius airport on October 21–22. After another set of Belarus balloons cross the border on October 27, Lithuania closes its border and authorizes the military to shoot any balloons down. October 16 — 6:44 a.m. United Airlines Flight 1093, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, is flying west near Moab, Utah, at 36,000 feet when members of the crew hear a loud bang as an object apparently strikes the front of the aircraft. A portion of the right side of the cockpit windshield is shattered, so the pilot, who suffers some scratches and bruises from the glass, diverts the aircraft to Salt Lake City International Airport, where it lands safely 50 minutes later. The pilot informs passengers that “The aircraft has collided with an object.” The National Transportation Safety Board sends the damaged windshield to its laboratory for examination, although much of the agency’s staff (and that of the FAA) are furloughed due to the extended government shutdown. Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer with the Harvard–Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, rules out a re-entry by known space debris. John Dean, CEO and co-founder of WindBorne Systems, suspects that the object is one of his company’s weather balloons. October 26 — The Federal Aviation Administration updates its manual for air traffic controllers in a directive (N7110.800) that changes its language on UFOs to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and instructs air traffic controllers to report UAP observations through existing safety and security channels. (Kevin Cortes, “The FAA Quietly Updated Its UAP Reporting Policy and That’s a Good Thing,” Americans for Safe Aerospace, November 7, 2025; John Greenewald, “FAA Updates Controller Manual to Reflect New UAP Reporting Policy,” The Black Vault, November 7, 2025)
October 26 — 7:43 p.m. Two observers in Edmonton, Alberta, are stargazing when they spot a dark, slow-moving triangle with no lights or reflections passing through the sky at about 2,000 feet. It makes no sound, but one witness says it has an “aura around it” that makes him think it is hot. About two minutes later, standing in his driveway, he looks up and sees a silver object with 5–6 lights on the underside, flying in the same direction as the big triangle. This UFO seems to be at 3,000 feet and more closely above him. He estimates that both objects are about 300 feet long and moving at 300 mph. (National UFO Reporting Center, “NUFORC UFO Sighting 193642,” October 30, 2025)
October 27? — Day. The pilot of a Piper PA-32RT-300T Turbo Lance II flying at 3,500 feet near Woonsocket, Rhode Island, encounters a strange object like a “small silver canister” floating only a few feet from his wingtip. He reports it to local air traffic control, but they can’t identify it and just tell him, “Good luck with the aliens!” (“Pilot Reports a UFO Just Flying By his Plane | ‘Creepy!’” VASAviation YouTube channel, October 27, 2025; “Pilot Reports ‘Silver Canister’ UFO Feet from His Plane during ‘Creepy’ Air Traffic Control Call,” New York Post, December 21, 2025)
October 29 — The 3I/ATLAS interstellar object reaches perihelion at a point approximately 1.356 astronomical units from the Sun. This places the comet just beyond Earth’s orbit, displaying a steep retrograde inclination of around 175°, which reveals an incoming path that is almost completely the opposite direction of planetary motion. NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory researcher Davide Farnocchia reports on recent observational data from the object, which shows that it follows a hyperbolic orbit, displaying an eccentricity of e = 6.1373 (rounded). The object’s trajectory thus confirms that 3I/ATLAS will continue back into interstellar space after it completes its drive-by visit to the Solar System. The object also displays measurable non-gravitational acceleration, which is a good indication of cometary behavior driven by outgassing. (Avi Loeb, “First Evidence for a Non-Gravitational Acceleration of 3I/ATLAS at Perihelion,” Medium: Avi Loeb, October 31, 2025; Avi Loeb, “Afterthoughts of the Non-Gravitational Acceleration of 3I/ATLAS at Perihelion,” Medium: Avi Loeb, November 1, 2025; Micah Hanks, “Did 3I/ATLAS Just Show Signs of Technology? October 30 — Researcher Ross Coulthart reports on a “slicksheet” (flyer) he has obtained that is produced this year by the FBI’s Office of Private Sector announcing a new initiative to report unmanned systems such as drones and underwater vehicles that could pose a threat to defense facilities and “critical infrastructure” sites. The document notes an increase in “incursions over recent months” and says the unmanned systems “may be intended to disrupt operations or gauge US response capabilities and policies.” Respondents are directed to use eGuardian, the FBI platform that documents suspicious activity and criminal incidents. It includes UAP in its definition of UxS, which are “Highly automated, autonomous, and un-crewed systems and robotic vehicles designed to fly, move along the ground, or navigate on the surface or sub-surface of water.” A second FBI document, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Response Playbook for Responding to UAS Incidents in the Homeland, also dated 2025, announces that every FBI field office will now have a dedicated counter-UAS coordinator and enumerates guidelines for initial response, investigations, and reporting UAS sightings. October 31 — 1:09 a.m. A couple in Prospect, Connecticut, are on the deck in the backyard when they see something glowing in the dark in the woods about 150 feet away. It seems to be flickering and over the course of 4 minutes it changes from a cluster of white, purple, and green lights to a straight line, then disperses into 4 or 5 balls of light that take off silently in opposite directions. They take a short video. (National UFO Reporting Center, “NUFORC UFO Sighting 193777,” November 3, 2025)
October 31–November 4 — Unidentified drones appear at NATO’s Kleine Brogel Air Base in Peer, Limburg, Belgium, for two nights. On the second night, three drones of a larger type are reported flying at a higher altitude than before; a helicopter and police vehicles give chase but lose contact after several kilometers. The base also unsuccessfully attempts to bring down the drones by jamming their signals. Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken says that “it was not a simple overflight, but a clear command targeting Kleine Brogel.” Drones are also observed above Antwerp Airport in Deurne on November 1, the Ostend-Bruges International Airport on previous nights, Leopoldsburg/Beverlo Airfield, and Camp Roi Albert near Marche-en-Famenne. November 5 — The National Folklore Survey for England releases preliminary findings on UFO beliefs. Designed by David Clarke, the two-year project intends to capture an accurate snapshot of the wide range of experiences, beliefs, and traditions that fall under the term folklore. 10% say they have seen a UFO or something in the sky they could not explain, and 15% are aware of places in England that have become famous because of their UFO lore. But overall, the results suggest the English are less likely to see UFOs and are more skeptical than people who live in North America, when compared to similar surveys. (David Clarke, “Four Million English Folk Have Seen UFOs,” David’s Substack, October 27, 2025; “First Findings: UFOs,” National Folklore Survey for England, November 5, 2025)
November 5 — The University at Albany UAPx project receives a transformational endowment gift from longtime businessman Tony Gorman to support cutting-edge physics research on unidentified aerial phenomena. UAPx continues the mission of a federal non-profit of the same name, co-founded by Navy veterans Kevin Day and Gary Voorhis to gather and maintain quality data on UAPs. Physics Professor Kevin H. Knuth says the project is an outgrowth of many years of ongoing research that he and his colleagues behind the new effort have already undertaken. November 9 — A YouGov survey finds that 56% of Americans believe that aliens definitely or probably exist, and 47% believe aliens have visited Earth at some point. Americans who think aliens have not visited Earth are about twice as likely as those who think aliens have visited to say that if aliens did visit, it would have a negative effect (43% vs. 22%). Among Americans who say they have seen a UFO, 28% think it was more likely to be alien in nature and 48% think it’s more likely that it had some other explanation. (Jamie Ballard, “Half of Americans Believe Aliens Have Visited Earth,” YouGov, November 25, 2025)
November 11 — 11:13 p.m. A man driving from Bloomington to Danvers, Illinois, notices a large number of deer and raccoons on the road, all running away from Kings Mill Creek. He sees a gold sphere about 500 feet above the woods moving silently in a “rapid, almost yo-yo-like, circular motion.” (National UFO Reporting Center, “NUFORC UFO Sighting 194009,” November 13, 2025)
November 13 — 9:29 p.m. Three witnesses in Derby Park in New Bern, North Carolina, notice a triangle with three lights in each corner. It is only visible for 3 seconds before it takes off, but they manage to snap a photograph that shows the three lights. (National UFO Reporting Center, “NUFORC UFO Sighting 190488,” November 16, 2025)
November 19 — Karin Austin, director of the Center for the Impossible at Rice University in Houston, along with co-authors Michael Bohlander and Kimberly S. Engels, argues in the prestigious journal Global Policy (Durham University) that academia should take the testimony of UFO experiencers (abductees) seriously. (“‘Don’t Look Up?’: Why It Is Past Time for Serious Holistic Research into Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena,” Global Policy, November 19, 2025)
November 19 — NASA releases new images of comet 3I/ATLAS collected by the James Webb Space Telescope, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, the Lucy asteroid-studying probe, and other spacecraft, confirming that the object is indeed a comet, but one from another, distant solar system. (“NASA Reveals New Images of Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS from across the Solar System: ‘It Looks and Behaves Like a Comet,’” Space.com, November 19, 2025)
November 21 — The Age of Disclosure, a documentary film by Dan Farah, is released on Amazon Prime. The film’s narrator and main character is former U.S. Department of Defense employee Luis Elizondo, and it features interviews with a variety of people, including 34 former and present US government officials, who claim “the United States has been secretly working to capture UFOs since 1947.” The former director of the UAP Task Force, John F. “Jay” Stratton Jr., claims there is a race among governments to reverse engineer alien technology: “The first country that cracks the code on this technology will be the leader for years to come. This is similar to the Manhattan Project; this is the atomic weapon on steroids.” Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper claims that the US Air Force has operated a secret program to actively monitor UFOs at the Area 51 facility in Nevada. Secretary of State Marco Rubio cites “repeated instances of something operating in the airspace over restricted nuclear facilities, and it’s not ours. And we don’t know whose it is.” The film is screened in a committee room in the Cannon House Office Building on November 17 for a handful of House members, including André Carson (D-Ind.), Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), and Eric Burleson (R-Mo.). November 21 — 7:00 p.m. Security staff at Volkel Air Base in the Netherlands report drone activity for two hours, prompting the Royal Netherlands Air Force to fire ground-based weapons using live ammunition to take as many as 10 drones down. The drones leave the area without being affected. (“Dutch Military Opens Fire at Drones over Volkel Air Base,” Associated Press, November 22, 2025; “Dutch Air Force Fails to Intercept Unknown Drones over Volkel Air Base,” AeroTime, November 24, 2025)
November 22 — According to a survey commissioned by Doxa for the Centro Italiano Studi Ufologici (CISU), 4.5% of adult Italians claim to have seen a UFO. The results are presented at CISU’s 40th National Ufology Conference in Turin, which also sees the release of a new book by Paolo Fiorino on Italian military sightings and an updated national index of Italian UFO sightings. (Edoardo Russo, “2,5 milioni di italiani hanno visto un UFO,” Centro Italiano Studi Ufologici, November 22, 2025)
November 22 — Night. Civilian and military air traffic is temporarily halted until 11:00 p.m. at Eindhoven Airport in the Netherlands after drones are reported in the vicinity. Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans says authorities have “taken measures” without elaborating. More drones are also reported at Volkel Air Base. December 3 — English astronomer Mark Matney identifies a comet candidate to explain the Star that the Magi associated with the birth of Jesus of Nazareth as described in the biblical book of Matthew. By analyzing observations of a comet recorded in Chinese annals in 5 BCE, Matney makes use of a novel numerical technique to compute an orbit for this comet that could have passed very close to Earth in early June of 5 BCE, exhibiting “temporary geosynchronous” motion. (Mark Matney, “The Star That Stopped: The Star of Bethlehem and the Comet of 5 BCE,” Journal of the British Astronomical Association 135 (2025): 387–406)
December 4 — AARO releases three new UFO videos to the public. The footage, all originating from US European Command and captured by US military assets, includes two unresolved cases from 2024 and one case resolved as birds in 2023. All three lack the date of the event. The first unresolved case, designated PR-018, consists of 10 minutes and 30 seconds of infrared footage. AARO assesses with high confidence that the footage depicts the presence of a physical object. However, the office states the object’s morphological features, performance characteristics, and behaviors are unremarkable and do not warrant further analysis. The second unresolved case, PR-017, is 30 seconds of cell phone footage, which AARO says is insufficient to render a determination. The third video, PR-016, was resolved as birds with greater than 95% likelihood based on wingbeat patterns and flight formations. (“UAP Imagery,” All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, December 4, 2025; Cristina Gomez, “AARO Releases 3 UFO Videos Then Refuses Investigation,” UFO/UAP News, December 5, 2025)
December 13 — Night. Mystery drones continue to be reported at high altitude over Sweetwater County, Wyoming, especially over the Jim Bridger Power Plant and the Red Desert. Sheriff John Grossnickle says they often appear in coordinated formations and frequently enough that people have stopped reporting them. (“Mystery Drones, or Maybe UFOs, over Sweetwater County Are ‘the New Normal,’” Cowboy State Daily (Cheyenne, Wyoming), December 15, 2025)
December 14 — Congressional leadership abandons full enactment of the proposed Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act (UAPDA) after it is not included in the final National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2026, due to be signed by President Trump. Despite heightened public attention around allegations of UAP retrieval and reverse-engineering programs, momentum for major transparency measures appears to have slowed. The wider implication is that the Trump White House has not thrown its weight behind meaningful measures to scrutinize allegations that vehicles of non-human or otherwise unknown origin have been recovered and transferred to national laboratories and private defense contractors. However, the NDAA does include a provision requiring the Pentagon to brief lawmakers on operations since 2004 involving any UAP intercepts conducted by the integrated military commands (Northcom and NORAD) that share leadership and a focus on defending North America. (Brandi Vincent, “Congress Wants to Know More about the Military’s UAP Intercepts around North America,” Defense Scoop, December 10, 2025; Christopher Sharp, “UFO Transparency Stalls Again As Congressional Leaders Fail to Act Despite Growing Attention,” Liberation Times, December 14, 2025)
December 19 — 1:00 a.m. EST. Interstellar object 3I/ATLAS makes its closest approach to Earth, coming to within 168 million miles. The Breakthrough Listen program uses the 100-meter Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope to search for continuous-wave technosignatures but finds none. (Avi Loeb, “A 14th Anomaly of 3I/ATLAS: Alignment of Its Rotation Axis with the Sunward Direction at Large Distances,” Medium: Avi Loeb, December 17, 2025; Avi Loeb, “The 15 Anomalies of 3I/ATLAS,” Medium: Avi Loeb, December 18, 2025; “Farewell, Comet 3I/ATLAS!” Space.com, December 19, 2025; Avi Loeb, “3I/ATLAS Ignores Earth,” Medium: Avi Loeb, December 20, 2025; Ben Jacobson-Bell, et al., “Breakthrough Listen Observations of 3I/ATLAS with the Green Bank Telescope at 1–12 GHz,” ArXiv, December 24, 2025; James Felton, “Breakthrough Listen Searched Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS for Technosignatures during Its Closest Approach to Earth,” IFLScience, December 24, 2025)
December 24 — EuroUFO.net issues a “barometer” of UAP sightings in Europe from 2019 to 2024 that includes 32,253 events reported from 37 countries (including, for the first time, the Czech Republic, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Ukraine, as well as European data collected by MUFON). Researcher Philippe Ailleris notes that although the EuroUFO Index “is not intended as a research tool, it offers a clear continental overview of when and where UFO/UAP reports are being submitted in Europe, and it provides a concrete foundation for future cooperation.” The reported observations are not necessarily anomalous, with the vast majority likely involving misidentifications of natural or human-made phenomena. However, Ailleris says that the increased cooperation among countries in providing this data will “substantially improve the quality and scope of European UAP monitoring.” (Philippe Ailleris, “European UAP Sightings in 2019–2024: Towards a Broader and More Inclusive EuroUFO Barometer,” UAP Check, December 24, 2025)
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user
friendliness and visual appeal. I must say you’ve done a great job with this.
Additionally, the blog loads super quick for me on Internet explorer.
Outstanding Blog!
Barbra,
Thanks for your comment about the design of the CUFOS site. We worked very diligently to design something that was, as you say appealing and user friendly, so hearing from visitors to the site that we succeeded is welcome feedback.

It those dang Phantom Airships again! Just smaller…
I grew up in Chicago in the summer or maybe the fall of 1980 one of Chicagos then stations, 2, 5, 7, 9 broadcast a ufo. Calling it unexplained, quite a clear view of it. I’ve never heard anything since . Was it a fraud ?
Hello, David. I checked with another Chicago colleague, and neither of us remember anything about this particular broadcast. It could have been a local photo that never got any national exposure, or it could have been anything from the 1950 McMinnville UFO photos to the faked photos taken by Swiss contactee Billy Meier. Unless you can remember anything more specific, we are coming up blank.
